Federal's Henry 250th Anniversary load is a .45-70 Govt cartridge built for lever-action rifles earning its keep both on the range and in the field. It arrives in packaging you will want to hold onto long after the box is empty.
At the heart of each round is a 300-grain jacketed soft point a copper jacket wrapped over an exposed lead nose. That construction lets the bullet hold together as it drives in then open up once it reaches the target. Federal pushes it to 1850 fps at the muzzle with 2280 ft-lbs of energy behind it and the 0.2890 G1 ballistic coefficient keeps that heavy bullet carrying at the close-in distances for which a lever gun is made. For a hunter working hogs or whitetail with a big-bore lever action that combination puts real authority on game.
The .45-70 Govt has ridden in lever guns since the 1870s and this run keeps that line going as a collaboration between Federal Ammunition and Henry Repeating Arms marking America's 250th anniversary. It honors Henry's commemorative Golden Boy the ""Birthday Boy"" and ships in collector's-edition packaging made to be displayed. Federal loads the round in fresh reloadable brass so handloaders can save the cases and run them again at the bench once the commemorative box has done its part.
